Trezeguet

Trezeguet, the Egypt wide attacker whose full name is Mahmoud Ahmed Ibrahim Hassan, is confirmed in the 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, named after the final list was announced on 30 May. The Al Ahly forward is 31, with 95 caps and 23 international goals to his name, and he is listed in Egypt's midfield group for the tournament.

This would be his second World Cup after he started all three group games at Russia 2018. Egypt were drawn in Group G with Belgium, Iran and New Zealand, opening against Belgium at Lumen Field in Seattle on 15 June. Hossam Hassan's side won CAF Group A to qualify and set up in a 4-3-3. After spells in Belgium, England and Turkey, Trezeguet returned to Al Ahly in 2025.
