🚨 FIFA Retreats, But the Battle Is Far From Over 

Just days after unveiling its controversial proposal to sell a minority stake in the commercial rights of the FIFA World Cup, FIFA has now abandoned the plan following fierce opposition from across the football world.

The proposal would have created a new commercial entity, FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), allowing private investors to buy a minority stake in the commercial operations of FIFA's biggest tournaments. FIFA argued the move would unlock billions of dollars for football development worldwide, but critics feared it would hand unprecedented influence over the sport's biggest competition to private equity.

The backlash was swift. UEFA, together with its 55 member associations, condemned the plans, arguing that football's governing bodies should never treat the World Cup as an asset to be sold. Growing political pressure and widespread opposition ultimately forced FIFA to withdraw the proposal before it could be put to a vote.

However, the dispute is far from over. 

UEFA has now formally warned FIFA of potential legal action, demanding that all documents relating to the proposal be preserved as it considers legal, arbitration and regulatory proceedings. The move signals that, despite FIFA abandoning the proposal, Europe's governing body wants answers over how the plan was developed and whether football's governance processes were properly followed.

Rather than ending the dispute, FIFA's U-turn may only have intensified it. What began as a debate over football's commercial future has evolved into one of the most significant governance battles the sport has faced in decades.

Reports in Italy suggest Juventus have sounded out Bruno Fernandes' representatives over a surprise move. It remains a long shot, but it's one of the more eye-catching rumours of the week.

After falling down the pecking order at Manchester City, Jack Grealish is reportedly attracting interest from Atlético Madrid, while Aston Villa and Everton are also monitoring his situation.

United are said to be looking at Newcastle full-back Lewis Hall as they continue their search for defensive reinforcements. Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly has also been linked.
